Noratek began as a professional IT department delivering computer hardware, software, and service to small and medium sized businesses in British Columbia.
In early 2008, the Municipal Insurance Agency of BC (MIABC) which provides the liability insurance for 95% of the 180 cities in the province of British Columbia, became concerned about an alarming rise in the frequency of claims against its member municipalities for building code inspections.
To make matters worse, the cost to defend and/or settle claims was climbing as well.
The Municipal Insurance Agency of British Columbia needed a tool to help cities deliver consistent, complete inspections and to provide court admissible evidence of those inspections to stem the tide of rising costs from clams and settlements.
CityReporter™ inspector software was born out of the joint efforts of Noratek and The Municipal Insurance Agency of BC’s legal team, risk managers, and senior building officials.
The success of BuildingReporter and its inspection checklists was so impressive that MIABC took the unprecedented step of endorsing the CityReporter™ and encouraging its member municipalities to adopt it as their preferred inspection solution.
