Setup on Blackberry® Devices – Smartphones and PlayBook

If upgrading from an older version, make sure to file all unfiled inspections before proceeding. If you run into any problems, try uninstalling the older version first (see below).

You must be logged in to the BlackBerry App World™ storefront on your device with your BlackBerry ID before you download CityReporter.

  1. Open AppWorld and search for “cityreporter” in the search box at the top
  2. Click the CityReporter item.
  3. On the phone, press the Menu key > Download. On the Playbook click the Download button.
  4. When download is complete, go to the Home screen on your device and click on the CityReporter icon.
  5. Initial configuration of CityReporter:
    1. First time users select Country
    2. Enter City/Regional District code
    3. Enter username and password
    4. Select the Config/Login button
  6. CityReporter will refresh data for first time users. This may take a minute.
    1. “Refreshing lookup info”
    2. When “Complete”, click the Return key or Back.
    3. Click Login

Setup on Android™ Devices – Smartphones and Tablets

Pre-Install

The following apps from the Android Market/Google Play Store need to be installed on the device:

  • Adobe Air
  • File Manager – recommended: Astro (free)
  • Printing app if using Bluetooth printer – recommended: PrinterShare ($12-15)

Install and Setup

If upgrading from an older version, make sure to file all unfiled inspections before proceeding. If you run into any problems, try uninstalling the older version first (see below).

You must be logged in to your Google account to download apps from the Android Market/Google Play Store.

  1. Open Android Market/Google Play on your device and search for “cityreporter mobile”
  2. Select CityReporter Mobile Tablet or CityReporter Mobile Phone
    1. Click Install (or Update if upgrading)
    2. Click Accept/OK to allow access
    3. When installation is complete, click Open or go to Home screen or Apps and click the CityReporter icon
  3. CityReporter login screen appears
    1. First time users select Country
    2. Enter City/Regional District code
    3. Enter username and password
    4. Select the Config/Login button
  4. CityReporter will refresh data for first time users. This may take a minute.
    1. “Refreshing lookup info”
    2. When refresh is complete, click Back
    3. Click Login

Setup on Apple Devices – iPhone and iPad

If upgrading from an older version, make sure to file all unfiled inspections before proceeding. If you run into any problems, try uninstalling the older version first (see below).

You will need to log in to your Apple ID (iTunes account) to download apps from the App Store.

  1. Open the App Store on your device and search for “cityreporter mobile”
  2. Select CityReporter Mobile (for iPad) or CityReporter Mobile Phone (for iPhone)
    1. Click the Free button on the app, then press the Install App button that it changes into (or click the Update button if upgrading)
    2. Login with your Apple ID and password
    3. Accept the iTunes Terms & Conditions if necessary by clicking Agree
    4. Click OK on the Download Now dialog box
    5. When installation is complete, go to your Home screen and click the CityReporter icon
  3. CityReporter login screen appears
    1. First time users select Country
    2. Enter City/Regional District code
    3. Enter username and password
    4. Select the Config/Login button
  4. CityReporter will refresh data for first time users. This may take a minute.
    1. “Refreshing lookup info”
    2. When refresh complete, click Back
    3. Click Login

Uninstall CityReporter from Mobile Devices

Uninstall from BlackBerry Smartphones

Make sure to file any unfiled inspections before removing CityReporter, otherwise the data will be lost.

  1. Go to Options (wrench icon)
  2. Click Device > Application Management
  3. Search for “CityReporter”
  4. Select CityReporter > Delete > “Are you sure that you want to delete CityReporter?” > Delete
  5. “Restart now? > Yes

Uninstall from BlackBerry PlayBook

Make sure to file any unfiled inspections before removing CityReporter, otherwise the data will be lost.

  1. Press and hold the CityReporter icon on your home screen
  2. Press the trash icon that appears in the top left corner
  3. Press Delete to confirm > tap an empty part of the screen to exit delete mode
  4. Open AIR Browser
    1. Select documents > select the “cityreporter.db” file
    2. Press the Delete button > Confirm

Uninstall from Android Devices – Smartphones and Tablets

Make sure to file any unfiled inspections before removing CityReporter, otherwise the data will be lost.

  1. Go to Settings (gear icon on Home Screen or in Apps)
  2. Press Applications > Manage Applications
  3. Select CityReporter
  4. Press the Uninstall button > OK
  5. Open Astro File Managerand navigate to “/mnt/sdcard/”
    1. Press and hold the “cityreporter.db” file > select Delete

Uninstall from Apple Devices – iPhone and iPad

Make sure to file any unfiled inspections before removing CityReporter, otherwise the data will be lost.

  1. Press and hold the CityReporter icon on your home screen
  2. Press the x that appears in the top left corner
  3. Press Delete to confirm

How to Find the CityReporter App Version Number

BlackBerry Smartphones

  1. Log in to the CityReporter app
  2. Press Menu key and click Options
  3. The CityReporter version is at the top of the screen

BlackBerry Playbook, Android Tablets, and Apple iPad

  1. Log in to the CityReporter app
  2. Press Info at the top of the summary screen (if you don’t see it, turn your device sideways)
  3. The CityReporter version is listed on the next screen

Android Smartphones and Apple iPhone

  1. Log in to the CityReporter app
  2. Press Menu at the top of the summary screen
  3. Select Application Info
  4. The CityReporter version is listed on the next screen
