About Noratek Solutions

Noratek Solutions (est. 1999) is an enterprise software development company. We focus on providing solutions for all levels of government. Over the years, we have successfully developed a wide variety of software applications. Our clients have ranged from the Ministry of Environment to the local public library. There are two important projects that stand out in our long history of serving the public sector, however.

In the early 2000s, government sub-contractors across the Province of British Columbia, Canada, needed a better way to inspect highways. We developed software for them that worked on early mobile platforms like the Palm Zire 71 and the Blackberry. The solution was a major success and strengthened our reputation within the public sector.

Solving The Municipal Risk Problem

Soon after, a municipal insurance association contacted us with a problem. Local governments everywhere were facing an alarming rise in the frequency and cost of liability claims. The interesting part? Most of the claims involved inspections in some way. Because of our experience developing inspection tools for government agencies, we were asked to help.

Together, we built a team of risk managers, attorneys, experienced inspectors, and focus groups. For several months, we had extensive consultation with our advisory team and with industry experts. Finally, Noratek Solutions released CityReporter in 2008.

Now Trusted From Coast To Coast

CityReporter is now trusted by local governments from coast to coast. It has been endorsed by the municipal insurance association. It’s highly recommended by Ken Kutska, an eminent international playground safety expert.

At this point, Noratek Solutions is a successful contributor to the movement to improve government through technology. Cities that adopt our inspection management solution achieve more inspections, more efficiency, and more compliance. At the same time, they have less paperwork, less time wasted, and less risk of liability.

We are proud to have an impact on the safety and efficiency of government agencies across North America.
